June 15, 2010 Oak Design Donates Mature Oak Tree to Village of Oak Park In celebration of Arbor Day and its 30th anniversary, Oak Design & Construction donated a Swamp White Oak to the Village of Oak Park on Friday, April 30. "We have been a part of the Oak Park and River Forest community for more than 30 years and wanted to show our appreciation," says Brady. "Arbor Day was the perfect time to donate a mature Swamp White Oak, a tree that is indigenous to Illinois." Brady was joined by Oak Park's Urban Forestry Superintendent Jim Semelka and Oak Design & Construction staff. The tree was planted in front of Oak Park River Forest High School. In 1979 Brady founded Oak Design & Construction and has spent three decades growing the firm. “During the Chicago blizzard of 1979 is when Oak Design started. More than 300 garages in the Oak Park area collapsed due to snow loads and I went out into the community to help people reinforce them,” says Brady. "Thirty years later, we’ve come a long way from garage repairs to become a design and construction firm on the forefront of sustainable design and have even been named by Remodeling Magazine as one of the top 50 remodelers in the country."
