May 15, 2008 Oak Design & Construction Selected for the 2008 Remodel Chicagoland Tour Oak Design & Construction was selected for the 2008 Remodel Chicagoland Tour to showcase its recent renovation at a River Forest home. The tour highlights significant home renovations in Barrington, Schaumburg, Highland Park and River Forest on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18. “We are honored to be one of the seven firms selected to showcase its work on the tour,” says Dave Brady, Certified Remodeler and owner of Oak Design & Construction. Oak Design is showcasing one of its most recent projects, a remodeled kitchen for a Mediterranean-style home, one of two tour sites in River Forest. The second site is a whole house renovation of a two-story colonial by Pollard Construction Company, another local Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago (HBAGC) remodeler. Oak Design, along with Nevin Hedlund Architects, designed and constructed an 800 square foot addition to the home to provide expanded kitchen space, a casual dining area and a finished basement. “The family of four wanted a larger, organized and fully-equipped kitchen space for both cooking and entertaining,” says Brady. The kitchen design incorporates bold red accents and dark blues complimented by a neutral canvas of painted cabinetry and maple hardwood floors. The cabinets and three freestanding units were custom-built in Oak Design’s cabinet shop. A raised dishwasher for easy loading and unloading, dishwasher drawer and maple butcher’s block add aesthetic appeal and practical design to the space. “By listening to our clients’ needs and wishes, we delivered a unique space that is beautiful and functional – what the client always wanted their home to be,” says Brady. Tour hours are 10 am to 5pm on Saturday, May 17 and 11am to 4 pm on Sunday, May 18. Tickets are $10 each when purchased online and $15 when purchased at home sites.
