North East Avenue:
A Kitchen to Match an Elegant Home
The residents of 534 Northeast Oak Park Avenue called on Oak Design & Construction to remodel their dated kitchen. Complete with floor-to-ceiling white plastic laminate cabinets and mottled gray Corian ®, the original kitchen was functional yet had no stylistic connection to the rest of the house.
Oak Design completely gutted and remodeled the kitchen, using cream-colored glazed custom cabinetry, marbled granite countertops and dark wood accents to create a formal yet relaxing feel. With a look inspired by a Tuscan farmhouse, the kitchen possesses all the convenience and high-end amenities of a contemporary kitchen.
As most of the kitchen appliances were in great condition, the refrigerator, dishwasher and oven were reused. The homeowners were particularly keen on retaining a commercial-grade stainless steel cook top stove and hood. In order to incorporate the hood with the new look, Oak Design framed, drywalled and plastered over the angular, heavy structure to create a refined appearance. The piece was finished with crown molding and decorative glass and metal tile at eye level to create a one-of-a-kind element with old-world style.
